No Matter Man or Woman
Dr. John K. Mathew
The Bible clearly says that a woman is a helper, suitable for a man. Helper means one who helps or assists.
In a general sense, women do not like to be known as a helpmate, assuming it as an inferior position. But, it is interesting to know that the Holy Spirit is regarded as a 'helper' in the Scriptures and we know that the Holy Spirit is the same substance in the Holy Trinity.
The Holy Spirit is not inferior to the Father God and Jesus Christ. They are equals.
This is how the woman is portrayed in the Scripture. The reference "helper" is not positional, it is functional.
In marriage, a woman is a counterpart to a man. Unfortunately, many people do not know this reality.
For a better understanding may I quote a few lines from the writing of Dr. Dwight Small.
"When a man and a woman unite in marriage,
Humanity experiences a restoration to wholeness.
The glory of the man is the acknowledgment that woman was created for him;
The glory of the woman is the acknow ledgment that man is incomplete without her.
The humility of the woman is the acknowledgment that she was made for man;
The humility of the man is the acknowledgment that he is incomplete without her."
Please remember, when God created mankind in his image to rule the earth, He made them male and female.
So if a man has a ministry the woman has a ministry too.
What is ministry? Here, is a definition.
"Being a coworker with God; to carry out His purposes in the world".
It can be accomplished in various ways.
Preaching is a ministry.
Teaching is a ministry.
Giving is a ministry.
Praying is a ministry.
Nursing is a ministry.
God Almighty can accomplish his purpose and minister to people through each one of us regardless of our gender.
Christians are the light of the world.
We need to shine. No matter man or a woman!
