Jesus sent his disciples as lambs among wolves. It suggests opposition, oppression, and obstacles. It was true in the past. It is true even today. The ministry of Jesus Christ is not an easy task.
That is why the ministers of God maintain a positive attitude. They are not troubled or disturbed by obstacles. Caleb was a man with a different spirit. This is what he said in a difficult situation. “As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in. Now therefore, give me this mountain” (Joshua 14: 11,12).This courage is the result of a positive attitude based on God’s strength.
Viktor Frankl endured years of horror as a prisoner in the Nazi death camps. His father, mother, brother and his wife died in camps or were killed in gas chambers. Every day, Frankl and other prisoners suffered from hunger, cold, and brutality. But he managed to survive as an inspiration to millions. In his best- selling book, Man’s Search For Meaning he writes,
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way … even though conditions such as lack of sleep, insufficient food and various mental stresses may suggest that the inmates were bound to react in certain ways, in the final analysis it becomes clear that the sort of person the prisoner became was the result of an inner decision, and not the result of camp influences alone.”
The Scriptures clearly say that, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Phil. 8:28).
So let us keep our mind on the objective, not on the obstacle.
